Research and Special Programs Administration is responsible for a number of programs involving safety regulation, emergency preparedness, and research and development. Emphasis is given to hazardous material transportation and pipeline safety, transportation emergency preparedness, safety training, and multimodal transportation research and development activities, and collection and dissemination of air carrier economic data.
